Dealing with Doubt

Have you ever felt like you were inadequate? Have you ever looked in the mirror and questioned whether or not you are truly doing what you are supposed to be doing?

Self doubt is natural, mainly because it is a broken part of yourself that hinders you from experiencing the fullness of your potential.

The truth is, many of you reading this struggle with self doubt.

I know I have.

I have often questioned how God could use me to speak into the lives of other people. I’m flawed. I’m broken. I hold some deep hurt that I am working through, and will be until I am done here on earth.

So, why me?

Can you relate?

Then, I turn to the story of Moses.

For those unfamiliar, Moses was a Hebrew baby sent down the river by his mother, in order to save his life from the slaughter of innocent Hebrew children by the pharaoh.

He was pulled out of the river by the queen of Egypt. He was taken in as her own and protected.

He was raised in royalty. He had everything going for him. Until, he murdered an Egyptian. Then, he had to flee.

He ran to the desert and became a shepherd in the desert.

One day, he had an experience with God at a burning bush. God gave him a mission to go and set the captives free.

Moses doubted his ability. So much so, that he actually told God, he couldn’t speak well, so how could he accomplish anything.

God told him to go. He was sending him with a helper, Aaron, and God would handle the rest.

That’s it!

Moses had it right. He owned his flaw. He expressed his fear and weakness.

God acknowledged it, and gave him help.

Ultimately, God handled it all. It wasn’t about Moses.

Perhaps this is what you need to hear. It’s not about you.

If God is going to use you for something, He will handle it. Own your brokenness. Share your flaws with your Creator, He knows them anyway. Then, rest in His ability.

It isn’t about your skill, or lack thereof, it’s about your faithfulness to follow His direction.

God will do what He does best, and that’s be God. You do what you can only strive to do well, and that’s to do what He asks.

Doubt comes from trying to be who you can’t be, on your own.

You might try, but you will fail.

Doubt comes when you think there are others better than you. Guess what, there are!

You just may be the one God needs, or the one who is faithful enough, to do something now.

Don’t let doubt win. God is saying you can do it, so how about trusting Him?

I mean, He did create you after all.

So, who will you believe: doubt, which break you down, or God, who lifts you up?

Choose wisely.

Peace and blessings friends.
